Stagekings Builds the internal exhibition Australian Pavilion at World Expo 2025, Osaka
Stagekings, one of Australia’s leading exhibition and set builders, is proud to announce our role as the exhibition build partner for the Australian Pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
Working in partnership with ES Global for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), we were tasked with delivering a large-scale, immersive environment that showcases Australia’s stories of Land, Sky, and Sea Country.
This amazing project highlights our expertise in custom scenic construction, large-scale exhibition fabrication, and international event installations.
What We Delivered for World Expo 2025
As the set builders for the Australian Pavilion at World Expo 2025, Stagekings was responsible for the design development, 3D modelling, scenic finishing, prototyping, and on-site build of internal fit-out.
Land Country – An Immersive Australian Bushland
We recreated the spirit of the Australian landscape using high-end scenic techniques and sustainable materials. This included:
3D modelling and fabrication of 16 fibreglass gum trees, complete with Australian native foliage and realistic ground cover
A 6.5m x 6m custom fibreglass rock wall featuring a functioning waterfall feature and fibreglass creek beds
A durable Ecoboard boardwalk system with steel sub-flooring, allowing foot traffic to flow safely
Scenic detailing that evokes a genuine Australian bush scene, designed for international audiences
Sky Country – Immersive Storytelling through Projection
To represent Sky Country, we developed:
Scenic feature walls to allow for a rear-projection ceiling system, transporting visitors into a visually dynamic storytelling environment
Sea Country – Technology-Driven Ocean Experience
This space combined digital media with engineered materials:
A room wrapped in immersive LED screens, surrounded by custom-fabricated steel flooring and walls
A fully integrated AV and scenic environment for a multisensory journey through Australia’s marine stories
Outdoor Sculptures & Pavilion Forecourt
The Pavilion’s outdoor and entry areas were equally bold and considered:
Outdoor fibreglass sculptures designed as photo opportunities and landmarks
A forecourt stage and ramp, made from custom fibreglass surrounds and designed to be fully accessible for all visitors
Custom Portal Design – Connecting Exhibition Zones
To transition between each themed area, we designed and constructed:
Three transition portals between themed environments, Entry, VIP Entry, and Exit all crafted from sustainable compressed straw panels from Durra Panel.
Each portal was finished with acoustic panelling and custom fab-frame to provide seamless sensory transitions
Built in Sydney, Installed in Osaka
Every component of the Australian Pavilion was:
Prototyped and fabricated at Stagekings’ Sydney facility
Test-built and packaged for international transport to Japan
Installed by our team over an 8-week period on the ground in Osaka, ensuring the build was delivered to the highest standards, on time and in full
A Showcase of Australian Innovation and Creativity
This project represents one of Stagekings’ most ambitious and rewarding achievements to date. It demonstrates our unique ability to deliver large-scale exhibition builds, combining:
Creative fabrication
Technical precision
Sustainable materials
Immersive storytelling environments
We’re incredibly proud to help Australia shine on the world stage and to bring the Pavilion’s vision to life through world-class design and craftsmanship.
